👋 Hi there! This is Author S.
Today’s post is a rental car review from Okinawa—an essential part of any trip to this tropical paradise. I’ll be introducing various vehicles from different companies so you can find the best option easily and comfortably. Let’s dive in 😎
Toyota Aqua Rental Car in Okinawa

This is the Toyota Aqua. With a 1500cc hybrid engine, it delivers better fuel efficiency than a standard kei car in Japan. It also offers more trunk space—ideal for a family of four including two children.

Non-Japanese drivers usually have beginner and international driver stickers. The company I’m reviewing today applies both types—something a bit unusual!

The digital dashboard is sleek—expected for a hybrid. Considering the rental price is in the 6,000 yen range, it’s a very budget-friendly option.
Cargo Space

This model is larger than Japan’s standard kei cars. While space may be limited for five adults, it’s more than enough for a family trip with two kids. You can increase trunk capacity by sliding the back seats forward.

With four to five passengers, the car can fit two 28” suitcases and two carry-ons. For short Okinawa stays, this car is more than sufficient 🚗
How to Book
You can book via the link below. 🇰🇷 It’s a Korean-operated company and mostly caters to Korean clients. If booking is unavailable, I recommend checking out other options like the Toyota Yaris.

Pick-up and return are arranged at Okinawa Naha Airport, Exit 6, on the 3rd floor. It’s a smooth start and finish to your journey!

You’ll be shuttled to the rental office for car check-in. While it may seem more convenient to pick up directly at the airport, Japanese law prohibits this. Hence, the shuttle service!

Documents vary by country, but the booking site clearly lists what’s required in Korean, English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese. Make sure to review it carefully!
Fuel & Return

The Aqua runs on regular petrol. Staff will explain fuel type at pick-up, but knowing it ahead of time helps. Keep the fuel receipt and return the car at the same office. From there, you can head to the airport or Akamine Station depending on your travel plan.

The Toyota Aqua offers a smooth ride. Compared to the sportier Yaris, the Aqua feels more refined and relaxing. It’s also highly fuel-efficient and compact, making parking a breeze. If you’re planning a family trip with two kids, this car is a solid option. I’ll be reviewing more Okinawa rentals soon—see you next time! 👋
